about us

Veterinary Orthopedic Implants or VOI, was established as a company and product line in 1992 by owner Claude Gendreau, DVM, DACVS. Although the VOI product lines and sales have grown, we still treat our customers with small company service. At VOI, a representative will answer the phone during business hours and be able to assist you with your order. A client account representative will handle your account exclusively, and will be able to respond quickly and efficiently to your inquiries. Our goal is to make your ordering process as simple and accurate as possible.

99.9% of all orders placed by 5:00 pm will be shipped same day. Orders may be faxed or emailed 24 hours a day. Orders are checked independently for quality and accuracy prior to shipping. VOI products are guaranteed to meet specifications and be free of defects in workmanship and materials. Returned products will be replaced or repaired at our discretion provided there is no evidence of misuse.

VOI is proactive in developing and manufacturing new implants to meet our surgeons’ needs. We currently stock over 3000 products, including a vast selection of TPLO plates, locking head screws, TTA implants, fracture repair plates, cortical and cancellous screws. We are also distributors of gSource and Miltex instruments.

She enjoys visiting her two brilliant and beautiful daughters who now attend UF, and cheering for her son playing high school basketball. Marcy earned her yoga teacher certificate in 2012. Patrick Gendreau, MBA
Co-owner and

As the grandson of Lionel, the co-founder and first vice-president of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and nephew of Claude, I feel fortunate to also be in a position to serve the veterinary profession. As a teenager I had the opportunity to work in Claude’s practice during the summer months before moving to Chicago from Montreal, my birth city. A few years later, I earned a MBA degree from the University of Illinois and joined V.O.I. My passion for tennis allowed me to meet, some 12 years ago, another tennis enthusiast, Rebecca, the love of my life and mother of our three daughters. Following a four year stint in Vermont, V.O.I. and the Gendreau family moved to St. Augustine, Florida where Lily, Lola and Noa-Lee can enjoy the outdoors year round.

Leading the way in client service

At V.O.I., we take great pride in being helpful and courteous in filling orders accurately and promptly. Claude, Patrick’s partner, a board certified surgeon, is usually available to discuss fracture repair options and implant selection with you.

Leading the way in pricing

Due in part to our ever-growing machining capabilities; we operate efficiently and are able to offer our implants and instruments at a very competitive price.

Claude Gendreau

Claude is the co-founder of V.O.I. and the founder of Veterinary Specialty Center located in the Chicago suburb of Buffalo Grove. Claude has a long history of teaching and sharing his knowledge with the veterinary community. Decades of practical experience in orthopedic and neurologic surgery makes him a great asset for V.O.I. in product development.

Leading the way in specialized veterinary care

"When I founded Veterinary Specialty Center in 1976, my goal was for it to become the leading multi-disciplinary referral center in the Midwest. Thanks to our outstanding team of veterinary specialists and dedicated staff and the support of the veterinary community, I feel we are providing a very high level of specialized veterinary care."

Leading the way in orthopedic implant design

"When I started practicing small animal orthopedic surgery more than four decades ago, veterinary surgeons had to adapt to small animal fracture repair implants designed for the repair of fractures in people. Implant selection was woefully inadequate, so I started designing implants that would better serve the need of veterinary orthopods. Building on my experience and on that of V.O.I.’s many customers who offer suggestions, I believe V.O.I.’s product line best serves the veterinary surgeon."

About Us

//Samantha M. Simonelli, DVM

I wanted to extend my thanks to you all for your help over the past 2 weeks with our case of the rabbit with the fractured femur. I don't do many fracture repairs but when I do, I have always called you and I have always been impressed with the high level of customer service you provide. You put me in touch with Dr. Gendreau who spoke with me 3 times pre-op and even called to check on my patient post-op. I received the materials I ordered exactly when you said they would arrive and the quality is superior. They worked perfectly for my rabbit patient, Oliver. He is doing very well, hopping around, and tolerating his external fixator with no troubles. Thanks again have my loyalty and my recommendation.
